Huawei has integrated the Moovit app into its rapidly expanding HUAWEI AppGallery. This is the latest in a growing number of high-profile apps that have been built, or adapted, specifically for the millions of consumers using Huawei’s official app distribution platform.
Huawei has worked closely with the Moovit team throughout the technical process to leverage chip-device-cloud capabilities that accelerate the transformation of existing app models. This is part of Huawei’s commitment to developers and enables them to realise the massive business benefits and enhanced user reach of an app store that, in 2019, enabled 210 billion downloads in more than 170 countries.
Already in use by over 865 million people in 3200 cities across 106 countries worldwide, Moovit’s free urban mobility app combines information from public transport operators, micro-transport operators and transport authorities, with live information from the user community. As a result, the app provides a real-time picture of the best route for any journey with urban mobility options such as bus, metro, train, bikes, e-scooters, car-sharing, ride-hailing, and more.
Huawei will be promoting the Moovit app in its AppGallery, available in 45 languages, as part of its integrated support marketing campaign for global partners. This will involve running dedicated splash screens, top banners and key word searches on AppGallery to boost click-through rates, alongside system push messages to users across the CEE & Nordics region as well as selected countries in Western Europe and around the globe. The activity will be further supported by Huawei’s comprehensive mobile ad campaign promoting the Moovit app in third party apps and Huawei’s own native apps until the rest of the year, plus joint social media campaigns and competitions to draw users from more than 100 countries.
Wang Heng, Vice President, Global Partnerships and Eco-Development at Huawei Consumer Business Group, CEE and Nordics said: “As the leading urban mobility app, Moovit is a fantastic addition to AppGallery and meets our customers’ demands for global applications with a local focus. Like so many of the apps that are being added to our store on a daily basis, Moovit did not have to be built from scratch. Instead we worked together with the Moovit developers to adjust the existing model with ease. We have already seen high numbers of downloads, and with the marketing push that we are putting behind the Moovit launch, we expect this to increase sharply over the coming weeks.”
“Moovit’s mission from day one has been to simplify urban mobility around the world,” said Yovav Meydad, Moovit’s Chief Growth and Marketing Officer. “The integration of Moovit’s multimodal journey planning and navigation app on Huawei smartphones will help make daily life a little bit easier for millions. Huawei provided us with excellent support during the integration into the AppGallery ecosystem. The Huawei team was responsive and communicative and fully shares our excitement about this partnership.”
In addition to the app on AppGallery, Moovit will also have its free web app version available in customised format in the Huawei mobile browser. Moovit is the latest in a wide range of apps in the travel category that have been added to the HUAWEI AppGallery such as Booking.com, eSky, Omio, Skyscanner or Turkish Airlines. It exemplifies the company’s commitment to providing high quality solutions that provide customers with a unique and smart experience, and it reinforces Huawei’s ‘global and local’ approach to app listing that provides consumers with an enhanced experience by focusing on popular local apps.
Over 1.8 million developers globally have joined the Huawei Mobile Services ecosystem. More than 96,000 applications have been integrated into HMS Core, the collection of open source tools made for partners and app developers to create experiences that tap into the full hardware and software capabilities of Huawei’s devices. By partnering with Huawei, developers like Moovit have access to exclusive offers to promote their apps including marketing opportunities and the Huawei Point Reward scheme.
