Top Tanzanian musician TID (real name Khalid Mohammed) was on Thursday night attacked by unknown assailants in Dar es Salaam.
The pioneer Bongo Flava crooner shared a picture of his bruised face and blood-stained t-shirt. He was later hospitalised but themotive of the attack remained unknown.
The singer claimed inthe caption on his Instagram page that he was attacked because of his music.
“Washamba bwana wakiona tu unasikika wanaamua kukupiga hivi …. It’s so sad jambazi anaeza kukufanyia chochote sababu yeye jambazi na yuko na back up za kijambazi #RevengeoftheNinja,” wrote the singer.
He later deleted the post and uploadedanother one bragging that the show must go on.
The controversial singer has in the past had run-ins with Tanzanian authorities.In 2017, he was among Tanzanian top celebrities questioned by local authorities over suspicion of drug trafficking and drug abuse.
Those grilled included former Miss Tanzania Wema Sepetu, Dogo Hamidu and Babuu wa Kitaa.
In 2008, he was arrested and later imprisoned after he was found guilty of assaulting one Ben Mashiba by hurling a crate at him and injuring his arm and head.
It is reported that in January 2018, unknown people broke into the singer’s home and broke into his car’s side windows’, wind screen and side mirrors.
In an interview, he also confessed that after serving time in jail he got into hard drugs specifically ecstasy and cocaine and for two years he was hooked to the drugs.
