African flavour and entertainment at first Folk Fusion in 2020

The first edition of Folk Fusion in 2020 is set to take place on Saturday 7th March at 910 James Gichuru Rd from 2- 11 PM. The backyard-style event hosted by Gikuyu Afro-pop star Ayrosh will once again immerse revellers into a musical and cultural experience.

The event will kick off with an indulgence in African cuisines courtesy of Fresh & More Kitchen accompanied by the popular Gikuyu brew– Muratina among other alcoholic drinks. This will be followed by storytelling sessions around bonfires in a remake of the African communities’ social setting. Guests will also have a chance to shop for different art and jewellery pieces at the Ndunyu Arts Corner. The event will later culminate into electric live performances headlined by Ayrosh and dynamic Samburu-based Maa Musician Lemarti.

Speaking on Lemarti, Ayrosh says, “I met Lemarti when we were both preparing to perform at the National Jamhuri Day in 2019. There is a lot of similarities to our music styles. We both sing in our native languages fused with modern sounds and we tell our daily life stories in our music. I’m genuinely excited to have him perform at Folk Fusion and I can’t wait for fans to experience is dopeness” Other performers at the event include Afro-house DJ Mike Muema, Bengatronics resident DJ Mura KE as well as a special appearance by Gikuyu rapper Kobole.
